The artistry of Martin Kennedy’s "All India Radio” has always impressed me - textured guitar sounds, a sense of space, an array of different projects that he has produced. We've always kept in loose contact over the years through shared music acquaintances. He's based in Tasmania these days. Martin rang me a couple of years ago and said "how about we do an undefined atmospheric textural record?". I thought, that sounds grand - provided it would fit around other releases and commitments. I sent Martin a bunch of piano outtakes from Wake, The Wisdom Line and some other film based piano pieces, combined with a few other soundscapes. Martin treated the piano and played some wonderful guitar as always, then sculptured it all.

Three months later he sends back these wonderful mixes in progress. We worked back and forth a little, not much - 'twas such an effortless process. The record wasn't made during COVID, although it kind of sounds like it should have been. All instrumental, not for dancing (unless you have a very lateral take on that art form), perfect for playing at the beginning or end of the day. All praise be to Martin.

This is one more reason why I wish MFTCC would tour the states (I live in Pittsburgh). Some tracks, like "Weather Coast" sound even better live than in the studio. Fantastic playing and great songs. It's a pity my copy hasn't arrived yet (ordered it in Sept) but I'm still enjoying the digital download. Philip Maye
