about

Marni is part observational documentary, part long-form art experience - an intimate and meditative two and a half hour portrait of an artist at work.

'Marni' is an immersive slow TV art experience in which an intricate dot painting, "Ngarndu Marni - a dot painting of Ngarluma country in bloom after the rain" by Allery Sandy is created by celebrated Pilbara Yindjinarndi artist and elder, Allery Sandy.

The TV production,“Marni”, was a collaboration between Yindjinarndi elder and artist Allery Sandy, director Tyson Mowarin, producer Robyn Marais and composer David Bridie. Yindjinarndi people live near the town of Roebourne in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The area is bordered by Kariyarra and Nyamal land to the north, Ngarluma to the west, Martuthunira and Kurrama land to the south and Nyiyaparli and Palyku land to the east.
